Returning to Health

Philadelphia has the highest rate of incarcerated individuals out of America’s ten largest cities, yet has made little headway in improving the health of its inmates. To target this issue, Inside Out introduced an evidence-based nutrition curriculum, documented its impact and asked Northfound to design a report on the program’s findings. The finished report mixes dense and sparse layouts to echo the weight of the issue, with pull quotes giving voice to participants’ experiences. Black and white photos and a palette of greens combine to convey the serious nature of the subject matter and optimism for a healthier future. Colorful graphs highlight behavioral shifts, while simple icons call attention to opportunities for greater structural change.
