The Food Trust began the Heart Smarts initiative, an extension of the Philadelphia Healthy Corner Store Network, to help consumers make heart-healthy choices. We created an identifying icon to denote Heart Smarts materials. We also designed Heart Bucks with shopping tips, which are distributed to customers, and worked with a local fabricator to create Heart Smarts point-of-purchase stations for cooking demonstrations and healthy shopping.
